The message arrives within about a minute of the U.S. Geological Survey publishing the event, so your team sees it about as fast as the data exists. This is monitoring and notification, not detection; Tremor does not predict earthquakes and cannot notify anyone before shaking begins.
What the Slack alert looks like
Alerts post as formatted Slack messages using Block Kit, not raw text. Each one shows the magnitude, the place name, the depth, the time, and how far the epicentre is from your watched location, with a link straight to the event on the live globe. A magnitude 6 near a data centre reads at a glance, and the whole team sees the same message in the same channel.
Setting it up, about three minutes
- Create an incoming webhook in Slack. In your workspace, add the Incoming Webhooks app and choose the channel the alerts should post to. Slack gives you a webhook URL.
- Paste it into Tremor. Open your watchlist, go to Alert channels, choose Add Slack, and paste the webhook URL. Tremor recognises the Slack address automatically.
- Send a test. Use Send test to confirm a formatted message lands in the channel. From then on, matching earthquakes post there on their own.
