Discord earthquake alerts
Tremor posts an earthquake alert to your Discord server whenever an event matches one of your watchlists, which is a saved location with a radius, a minimum magnitude, and an optional minimum shaking intensity. The message arrives within about a minute of the U.S. Geological Survey publishing the event. Tremor monitors and notifies; it does not predict earthquakes and cannot post before shaking starts.
What the Discord alert looks like
Alerts post through a Discord channel webhook as a clear message showing the magnitude, place name, depth, time, and distance from your watched location, with a link to the event on the live globe. Everyone in the channel sees the same alert at the same moment.
Setting it up, about three minutes
- Create a webhook in Discord. In your server, open Channel Settings, then Integrations, then Webhooks, and create one for the channel you want. Copy its URL.
- Paste it into Tremor. In your watchlist, open Alert channels, choose Add Discord, and paste the URL. Tremor detects the Discord address and formats messages for it automatically.
- Send a test. Use Send test to confirm the message posts, then let matching earthquakes trigger it from then on.
Who uses it
Community servers for a region, mutual-aid and preparedness groups, mapping and weather hobbyists, and small teams that already live in Discord use it to keep an eye on a specific area. Because each watchlist has its own radius and magnitude threshold, a server can run one channel for large regional events and another for small local ones, and point each at the audience that cares. Discord channels are included in Tremor Pro at $4.99 a month, alongside up to 50 watchlists, 24/7 cloud monitoring, and email, push, Slack, and webhook channels; you can mix Discord with the other channel types on the same watchlist so an alert reaches your server and your inbox at once.
What it is honest about
Every alert describes an earthquake that has already happened. Tremor's job is to tell your server, quickly and automatically, that one of your watched areas was shaken and how strongly, within about a minute of the official data. It is not a warning system and cannot give advance notice.
Frequently asked questions
How do I add an earthquake bot to my Discord server?
You do not need to install a bot. Create a channel webhook in Discord through Channel Settings, Integrations, Webhooks, copy its URL, and paste it into a Tremor watchlist under Alert channels. Tremor then posts alerts to that channel whenever a matching earthquake occurs.
How fast are Discord earthquake alerts?
They arrive within about a minute of USGS publishing an event that matches your watchlist. That reflects an earthquake that has already occurred; Tremor cannot post before shaking begins.
Is Discord alerting free?
Discord channels are part of Tremor Pro at $4.99 a month, which includes up to 50 watchlists, 24/7 cloud monitoring, and email, push, Slack, and webhook channels. You can add several Discord channels and point different watchlists at different servers or channels.
